Five programs, audited financials, the founding family, all seven trustees.

One foundation, five programs

The Almas and A. Qadir Foundation supports five welfare programs in Rawalpindi, all operating from the same modest campus: The Qalam School (this site), the Kamel Arif Vocational Program, the AAQ Health Program, the AAQ Food & Ration Program, and the AAQ Uplift Program.

Our work started under the Almas & A. Qadir Charitable Trust in 2011, as their family's sadaq-e-jaria — a continuing charity in memory of their parents. In September 2025, we migrated to the Almas and Abdul Qadir Foundation, registered under Section 42 of the Companies Act of 2017 of the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

For US donors: Friends of Qalam School

US donations to the school and its programs are channelled through Friends of Qalam School, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States (Tax ID 45-4910908). 100% of donations support the school and its programs — all US donations are fully tax-deductible.

In memory of A. Qadir

Air Vice Marshal Abdul Qadir flew Spitfires on the Burma Front in the Second World War, helped found the Pakistan Air Force, served as Commandant of the Air War College, and later as Director General of Civil Aviation. Those who served alongside him remember a scrupulously honest officer and what Pakistanis of his generation called a true gentleman. The Qalam School is the work his family chose to remember him by.
